Abigail to Melanie: "I Slept With Austin!" Abigail spins out of control when she witnesses Austin kissing Carrie. "It breaks Abigail's heart," previews Kate Mansi. "Her whole world is shattered, because she feels like she meant more to Austin, and now he's able to go back to his wife. In Abigail's mind, the kiss was a beautiful moment that was going to culminate in a real relationship." Melanie encounters Abigail and is alarmed to see her friend in tears. Abigail weeps that the man she loved has gone back to his wife. Melanie is stunned to learn that Abigail is involved with a married guy. "It's new information for Melanie," explains Mansi. As Abigail vents, Melanie realizes that her pal's mystery guy is Austin. "It's part of Abigail's rambling," points out Mansi. "She's talking to her best friend and mentions Carrie. That's how the discover happens on Melanie's part." Melanie asks if she slept with Austin, and Abigail, who is starting to believe her own lie, says yes. The next day, Austin runs into Abigail and apologizes for taking advantage of her. "For Austin, it was nothing more than a mistake," voices Mansi. Rattled by Austin's apology, Abigail chooses to make him feel even worse, convinced that she's the better woman for him -- not Carrie. "The lines between fantasy and reality are becoming so blurred that Abigail can't distinguish what is real anymore," offers Mansi. "She felt very encouraged by Austin's kiss. She believed that their love was so strong that it didn't really matter if he was married. Details like that fell by the wayside for Abigail because, in her mind, she and Austin are meant to be together." Things get even more awkward when Jack finds his daughter crying and asks Carrie to give Abigail some love advice... Article scan courtesy of Forbidden Love. |

I don't understand why so many people are moaning about the fact that J&J's kid is going slightly bonkers. Just because she's a legacy character does not mean that she has to be a carbon copy of her upstanding mom (and not-so-upstanding dad). The writers did this with Sami, and she was a primary villainess on the show throughout the 90s. Part of what made bad Sami so compelling was the effect her family relationships had on her... I see the same thing happening with Abby. Kate Mansi is one of the most talented actresses on the show. I can't wait to see what she does with an off-kilter Abby. |

I think they've thrown Abby on the crazy train a bit too quickly and not exactly in a way that makes sense---I guess I'm just not buying the sudden overwhelming appeal of Austin, but I guess he saved her from the kidnappers; however, I do think this could actually be a good story. And I hope it is a mental illness story. I'd like to see Jack, Jennifer, and Abby deal with that. It's a meaty story for Abby. It's a shame Melanie's being brought in at all. Leave her to her boring Chad non-angst. I just wish the characters I care about weren't all having to be in scenes with Jonases, because I just don't want to watch Jonases. I didn't want to watch Jonases even before they got involved with Deverauxs. Why did the family I care about have to get embroiled with the dang fauxHortons, whom I happily didn't bother to watch in the past? |

Sounds good. Abigail's heart is broken by someone she really liked, so I'm believing this reaction. LOL at Jack asking Carrie to give Abigail love advice. That should be a interesting conversation. |

I'm a bit annoyed that Carrie comes in too. I want to see Jack/Abby, not Carrie/Abby, but I suppose it's for the sake of awkwardness. |

Maybe Jack thinks Abby would feel more comfortable talking to another woman. Not sure why he chooses Carrie, unless it's because he knows Abby's on the outs with Jennifer right now. And oh, dear--clearly no good deed goes unpunished because it looks like Abigail uses that conversation as a means to drive a deeper wedge between Austin and Carrie. Still bewildered on how Abigail's innocent crush went from 0 to 60 and is now a full-blown obsession. I suspect her long-term future may very well hinge on how effectively her parents band together to get her through this crisis. Edited by Romancer66, Feb 9 2012, 12:46 AM.

^Yes. I think a character who "falls" can emerge a stronger character. That was true of Jack. I'd like to see it be true of his daughter, and I'd like to see him be there for her without casting stones, thinking of his own past. It will depend on how it's handled, but it could be very good for the character of Abigail and very good story for the whole Deveraux family. |

Interesting. MarDar have wrote this in a good way IMO. Abigail is clearly being set up for a fall but you feel for her. This sort of like the baby switch story where both the writing and acting makes you sympathize with the person doing the lying (in this case, Abigail). |

Oh I LOVE this!!! Such a classic soap story. I really love this. She doesn't seem bonkers either. Reminds me a bit of Delia on Ryan's Hope. |

I may not like the story but it oozes with soapy goodness and awkwardness. Jack and Jennifer are going to flip when they figure out what is going on. I hope they are tying this into Jacks statement to Marlena that he is afraid the people he loves will let him down. Sorry, you know us Jack fans are a bunch of masochists. |

I like this story except the delusional Abby angle. I donīt like how she believes Austin really loves her. I would rather her to know Austin doesnīt want her but still be the smart one behind who manipulates everybody and gives Austin no chance but play by her rules. Still, Iīm looking forward to her next move. PM plays dumb and weak really well so itīs not hard to believe Abby is able to make him squirm. I also look forward to Melīs part in it. I hope she will be the reluctant accomplice for Abby similar to what Abby was for Chelsea when she wanted to nail Patrick. I hate the perfect weepy Melanie, but sneaky scheming Mel is fun. |

I think this story might not actually be too bad. I think they should have went a little more slowly though with it. Like Have Abby question herself and the feelings she had for Austin first before flat out thinking what she was feeling was okay, let alone flat out believing that Austin would seriously just up and dump Carrie out of the blue for her. Sure he's having issues with Carrie, but she's his wife, and a woman he's been with for years. Abby is a very young woman who hasn't even been having feelings for Austin for very long. It's so foolish of her to think anything serious would actually happen for them. And the age difference doesn't seem to even faze her either. Austin was even older than Carrie when they first hooked up. He's like Abby's parents age. I just wished to see some struggle there with Abby. Not flat out crazy right away. |

Ha. Jennifer is far, FAR from upstanding. And Carrie is the last person who should be giving anyone advice on love. |

Gone, But Not Forgotten!

All good IMO. Why wouldn't Abby think Austin would go for her, after Carrie's small indiscretion, her mom has not be a great role model in regards to relationships. Jennifer always latched on to the next best thing, when Jack is gone or out of the picture. Hoping that Abby is moreless naive and deflecting this 'fantasy' type love, she's learnt from Jennifer, into her own view of relationships. It would be a good lesson to learn that sex does not equal love and relationships require hard work and that ppl in love don't bolt at the first sign of conflict. Liking that Jack is trying to get involved here, but really wishing Abby would confide in him about Austin and then, have him help her sort out her emotions. Jack getting in touch with 'affairs of the heart' would be great to see, obviously he doesn't know Austin is Abby's heartbreak. With Carrie getting involved and Melanie in the know, I think Jack is going to find out second hand what is going on and that will be a shock factor. The sleeping lie.... is not going to hold over well either. |

I like the way you think. I'm still afraid Jack is going to get blame for Abby's behavior. Jack may have missed portions of Abby's life (whether by his will or not) but like you said Jennifer's behavior has been just as harmful to Abby. Edited by LanaluvsBroe, Feb 9 2012, 08:39 AM.
